Writing has always been an aspiration for me; it has been my freedom of expressing my emotions. They  can get explosive at times, writing was always better than throwing things . . .  My goal in life has always been to have my work published, I am not one for fame, or planned on making “it” as a full time writer.  My intent was/is to share my experiences in my life with the hopes that someone will relate and I can reach them in a way that I have so much trouble with.  My life has been not been easy, but I have tried to make the best out of what I was given. Then in December of 2012, my life changed forever, I was in an accident and from there my health has declined at a rate even I am surprised at. There was a time I thought I would never write again, the injuries from the accident affected my brain, and everything is scrambled. So writing does not come as easy anymore. I try to write each day, and have found other ways of expressing my emotions and exploring my creative side. Journaling has become a big part of my healing process, however I do more art journaling, which has also lead to a new love ~ painting and really anything that has to do with arts. Music is one thing I still have a great love and appreciation for it is what fuels my inspiration. I also practice meditation and mindfulness, I find it relaxing and it helps in dealing with my pain and anxiety, not to mention it is good for the soul, mind and body.

Aside from writing and music my ultimate passion is football. I live for football; it is what saved me after my accident. I actually blog about football now, something I never thought I would or could do. But I love it. I am a Denver Broncos Girl, win or lose, I was born and raised in Colorado and I could never see loving another team like I do the Broncos. Last season I became involved with a group allied with the Denver Broncos, and I owe The Mile High Horsemen more than I could ever give back. The founders of the group brought meaning back into my life, I became involved and moved into a staff position and soon starting writing again. Without the other staff members, members of the group I don’t know where I would be today.

A little bit about my writing, people have diverse views about my writing styles and how it speaks to them; I have learned to take it with a grain of salt. I can be dark, emotional, educational, or 50 shades. Then move on to politics, my illness and the Denver Broncos. Welcome to my mind, my opinions and my writing. Some say what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, bullshit, it can fuck you up mentally turn your world inside out, and after you think you can’t take anymore something else comes and changes your world forever. Maybe I am stronger, living my life day by day, maybe I just exist. But one thing is certain I am pushing through my pain, fueling my passions, for education, awareness and hoping to shed light on many stigmas that exist in respects to invisible illness and mental illness.  People will never understand my journey and they don’t have too, it’s not theirs to travel.

The people in my life who choose to stand by me and support my decisions and are willing to try to recognize my struggles are the ones that matter. However unless they are going what I am they will never understand and with that they have a choice they can accept me for me or they can walk out the door, as always I have learned that the one I would take the bullet for is often the one holding the gun.  As Dr. Seuss so famously said “Be who you are and say what you mean, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
